In the land known for over 10,000 fresh water lakes, this article while older, explains about our aquifers, ground water and the flow of our water. Understanding Minnesota water flow is vital, as most our water flows away from us in many directions. One only has to stand in the Laurentian Divide waters, to see the incredible water flow in opposite directions.
Minnesota’s complex watersheds and hydrology are making for challenging flood forecasts this spring. Right now, some rivers are still basically steady and frozen up north. Some rivers are rising rapidly. And some rivers have already crested and are starting to fall.
